PROJECT OVERVIEW
R.O.S. – Uomini Invisibili is a compelling investigative documentary that offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale (ROS), the elite unit of the Italian Carabinieri. The film explores the high-stakes world of undercover operations, anti-terrorism, and the fight against organized crime.
For the first time, the "invisible men" of the unit share their experiences, revealing the psychological and professional challenges of living a life in the shadows to protect national security. My role as the editor was to translate this secretive world into a high-paced, visually engaging narrative suitable for Sky TG24's prime-time audience.
THE EDITING CHALLENGE: ANONYMITY & TENSION
Editing a documentary about undercover agents required a sophisticated balance between storytelling and strict security protocols:
Visualizing the Invisible: I had to maintain the agents' anonymity while keeping the viewer emotionally connected. This involved creative uses of silhouettes, lighting, and pacing to build a sense of mystery and "undercover" atmosphere.
Building Investigative Tension: The narrative was structured to mirror an operation's flow—from the slow, meticulous gathering of intelligence to the high-octane "strike" phase. I used sharp cuts and a dynamic rhythm to sustain a constant state of suspense.

3. NARRATIVE STRATEGY & SOUND DESIGN
To meet the high standards of an international broadcaster like Sky, the editing focused on a "Cinematic Crime" aesthetic:
Authentic Soundscapes: I leveraged tactical radio chatter and environmental sounds to immerse the audience in the operational reality of the ROS. The sound design was key to amplifying the "urban-warfare" feel of the documentary.
The Human Element of the Law: While the focus was on operations, I edited the testimonies to highlight the human sacrifice behind the badge—the double lives and the constant pressure faced by these "invisible" professionals.

Broadcast Excellence: The project was finalized with a high-end look, ensuring the color grading and audio mixing met the rigorous quality control of Sky TG24.
