Project Overview
This documentary showcases the CNR-IBBC/INFRAFRONTIER-IMPC hub in Monterotondo, Rome—a leading international center for genetic and biomedical research. The film introduces the new Mouse Clinic, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to systematic phenotyping and the study of human diseases through advanced genetic models.
The challenge was to translate a highly technical and clinical environment into a compelling visual narrative, balancing institutional prestige with scientific clarity for a global audience of researchers and policymakers.
The Creative Architecture
As a lead creative on this project, I managed the entire production pipeline to ensure a high-fidelity representation of the facility:
Scriptwriting & Narrative Design: I co-authored the script to bridge the gap between complex biotechnology and accessible storytelling. We focused on the mission of EMMA (European Mouse Mutant Archive) and the hub’s role within the global IMPC (International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium) network.
Cinematography (Videomaking): Working within high-security BSL (Biosafety Level) environments, I utilized a clinical yet dynamic visual style. I captured the precision of robotic cryopreservation systems and the meticulous work of researchers using macro-cinematography to highlight the "human-tech" synergy.
Post-Production & Editing: The edit was crafted to maintain a fast-paced, modern documentary feel. I integrated motion graphics to explain the hub’s organizational structure and ensured the sound design reinforced a sense of innovation and scientific authority.

Key Focus Areas
Systemic Phenotyping: Visually detailing the comprehensive analysis of genetic models.
Infrastructure Excellence: Highlighting the integration between Italian excellence (CNR) and European networks (INFRAFRONTIER).
Archival Management: Showcasing the cryopreservation and distribution of vital genetic resources to the global scientific community.
